With Fuerteventura's weather Barbequing is a great way to cook
For many the thought of cooking on a BBQ just spells a disaster waiting to happen, but with Fuerteventura’s sunny climate it is a popular way to cook and dine for many who live or own property on Fuerteventura. Try the recipe below if you are a novice to the “Old Barbie” and you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to produce a great meal and Wow the guests.
All American Burger
No matter how adventurous you are with your BBQ cooking sometimes nothing beats a good burger.
Ingredients
15g unsalted butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon ground cumin
1kg finely minced beef
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 teaspoon chilli sauce
salt & ground black pepper
6 soft white burger buns split &
Lightly char grilled
In a small frying pan melt the butter and gently fry the onion, garlic, oregano and cumin until the onion is translucent and softened. Allow to cool then transfer to a large bowl and mix with the minced beef, olive oil, parsley and chilli sauce. Work with your hands, but do not over work it.
Form the mixture into 6 burgers and char grill them on the BBQ they will need 4-5 minutes each side for medium/rare 6-8 minutes for well done.
Garnish the buns with torn lettuce leaves, thinly sliced tomato, thinly sliced onion rings, sliced pickled gherkins and either tomato sauce, mustard or mayonnaise. Wash down with Canary Island beer!
